Season and exact dates
Dry-season peaks, migration periods and festive dates usually carry the highest rates. Green and shoulder seasons can offer stronger value and fewer vehicles.
Prices are normally shown per person sharing. Exact dates, availability, rooming, optional activities and routing determine the final quote.
| Safari style | Typical planning range | What it usually means |
|---|---|---|
| Scheduled small-group safari | From around $4,000 per person | Fixed dates and route, shared vehicle, small group and less flexibility |
| Classic private safari | Roughly $7,000–$15,000 per person | A private or carefully tailored route, excellent camps and more control over pace |
| Luxury or multi-country safari | $15,000–$40,000+ per person | Premium camps, light-aircraft connections, private concessions or several countries |
These current Brilliant Africa itineraries show how group, private, luxury and destination choices move the price. Each figure is a starting price, not a fixed package.

Dry-season peaks, migration periods and festive dates usually carry the highest rates. Green and shoulder seasons can offer stronger value and fewer vehicles.
Scheduled departures reduce cost by sharing the vehicle, guide and route. A private safari costs more but gives you far greater control over pace and daily decisions.
Private concessions, migration locations and highly limited properties carry premium rates. A well-located tented camp can be better value than a grander lodge in the wrong place.
Light-aircraft flights protect safari time and connect remote camps, but they add cost. Road transfers offer stronger value where the distances and scenery make sense.
More nights increase accommodation, guiding and park fees. Multi-country routes also add regional flights, border logistics and transfers.
Published prices normally assume two people sharing. Solo travellers may pay a supplement, while families or larger groups can sometimes use private vehicles more efficiently.
Brilliant Africa currently secures arrangements with a 30% deposit. The remaining balance is due two months before departure. Gorilla permits must be paid with the deposit when applicable.
Read about booking with us →A safari price is meaningful only when you understand what sits inside it. Exact inclusions differ by itinerary, but this is the usual shape.
Your final itinerary will state every inclusion and exclusion. International flights are not assumed to be included.

We will explain what is realistic, where your budget will have the greatest impact and which routes deliver the strongest safari without unnecessary cost.
Most safari itineraries include accommodation, specified meals, guiding, park fees and the transfers or internal flights listed. International flights, insurance, visas, vaccinations, tips and personal purchases are commonly separate. Always check the exact inclusions for your itinerary.
Botswana deliberately limits visitor numbers and relies heavily on small camps, private concessions and light-aircraft access. This produces a quieter and more exclusive experience, but the limited capacity and logistics raise the nightly cost.
A private safari gives you control over the pace, route and time spent at sightings. It is especially valuable for couples, families, photographers and travellers with specific wildlife priorities. A small-group tour is the stronger-value option when flexibility matters less.
Green and shoulder seasons are usually better value than the main dry-season peaks. The trade-off can include more rain, thicker vegetation or different migration locations. The cheapest month is not automatically the best value for the experience you want.
High-season camps and small, sought-after properties can fill well ahead of travel. Planning early gives you more choice. Shorter lead times can still work, but the route may need to follow remaining availability rather than first-choice camps.
