Trip Summary and Itinerary Map

We settled into silence, taking photographs here and there as the lions slowly changed their positions. Mostly, they slept. Occasionally they would yawn, stretch out their large padded paws in front of them and lean back to stand. They would take a couple of steps, and collapse suddenly, satisfied with the location of their new bed.

Itinerary

The itinerary below is designed to give you an overview of the route. Get in touch with our team for a full travel itinerary, or to create a tailor-made trip.

Day 1: The adventure begins!

Upon your arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you'll be met by a friendly representative who will assist you to your driver. From here you will transfer to the Hemingways Hotel where you can relax from your international flight.

Spend your first night in a Deluxe suite, relaxing on your private balcony overlooking the iconic silhouette of the Ngong Hills, a beautiful view that can also be enjoyed over sundowners from the on-site bar.

Meal plan: Bed and breakfast

Area: Nairobi

Day 2: Hemingways to Ol Lentille

Transfer from Hemingways to Wilson Airport. Board your light air flight to Loisaba Airstrip and drive to Ol Lentille where you'll spend the next four nights relaxing and embarking on safaris. Located in northern Kenya’s spectacular Laikipia region, The Sanctuary at Ol Lentille is regarded as one of Kenya’s most exclusive safari lodges in the most spectacular and breathtaking location.

Their private conservation area is home to the endangered African wild dog, elephant, Grevy’s and Burchell’s zebra, greater kudu, leopard, cheetah, striped and spotted hyena and klipspringer to name but a few.

This lodge comes with a game package that includes shared game drives and shared return airstrip transfers.

Meal plan: Full Board

Area: Laikipia

Days 3-5: Maasai Mara

Select from a variety of exciting activities offered on-site to make the most of your day, including morning and afternoon game drives. Many guests combine Laikipia game drives with the Maasai Mara.

The Maasai Mara is the most popular safari destination in East Africa, it's the site of the Great Migration, where over 2 million zebras, gazelles and wildebeest travel from Serengeti to the Maasai Mara each year.

All the Big Five can be found in the Maasai Mara. Elephants, lions and buffaloes are easiest to spot, whereas the leopard is a solitary and elusive cat. The best time to spot one is in the early morning or at night. Spotting leopards is not guaranteed, but is certainly possible.

Day 6: Ol Lentille to Mahil Mzuri

Transfer from the Lodge to Loisaba Airstrip, and then to Mara Olare Orok Airstrip via Wilson Airport. Drive from Airstrip to the next lodge, Richard Branson's Mahali Mazuri, where you'll spend the next four nights. Found in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy, it allows for a more private game viewing experience. This is one of the richest wild ecosystems in the world with 35,000 acres of rolling grassland, with an astounding volume and variety of wildlife, the Conservancy offers some of East Africa’s finest, year-round wildlife viewing.

After you're all settled after arriving, you'll enjoy an afternoon game drive ahead of your delicious dinner. If you have time, make sure to head out on a local Maasai community tour or indulge in a rejuvenating spa treatment.

Meal plan: Full Board

Area: Olare Motorogi Conservancy

Day 7-9: Olare Motorogi Conservancy

Spend your day in the traditional safari way with an early morning game drive followed by breakfast and siesta.

After relaxation and unwinding, you can join your afternoon game drive and search for the incredible game that the reserve is known for. There's one game-viewing vehicle for every 2,100 acres, a move by the conservancy that is aimed to maximise the client wilderness experience and minimise the environmental impact of tourism. The low vehicle density provides a truly unique and incomparable wildlife viewing experience in an uncrowded wilderness.

Day 10: Off towards your next adventure

Transfer from the lodge to the Mara Olare Orok Airstrip. Fly from the airstrip to Wilson ahead of your transfer to the international airport where you will board your international flight home.
