Itinerary

The itinerary below is designed to give you an overview of the route. Get in touch with our team for a full travel itinerary, or to create a tailor-made trip.

Day 1: The adventure begins!

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be met by a representative who will assist you with your luggage and take you to your driver. From here you will drive to a working coffee plantation set in the foothills of Mount Meru, on the outskirts of the vibrant town of Arusha, to Legendary Lodge.

Retreat to the seclusion of your own cottage, with oversized beds for your first night in Tanzania.

Meal plan: Full Board

Area: Arusha

Day 2: Legendary Lodge to Lemala Mpingo Ridge

Transfer via road in a private vehicle to your next lodge, Lemala Mpingo Ridge, enjoying a hearty picnic lunch en route. The lodge sits on top of an escarpment with sweeping views across the perennial Tarangire River and valley below. Guests at Lemala Mpingo Ridge will enjoy a real sense of wilderness and excellent game viewing, and it’s both a relaxing standalone destination and a great place to start a safari.

Spend the following two nights enjoying private game drives in the Tarangire National Park. Tarangire has some of the highest elephant populations in the country. During peak migration from July to October, around 5,000 of these gentle giants will migrate to Tarangire - you can sometimes see groups of 300 elephants at once.

Meal plan: Full Board

Area: Tarangire

Day 3: Tarangire National Park

Enjoy your time in Tarangire National Park with your private game vehicle and experienced guide. Choose from a private full-day drive with a picnic lunch or a more relaxed game drive in either the morning or afternoon.

The vast grasslands and Baobab trees create a rugged, 'Out of Africa' feel that's quite distinct amongst Tanzania's national parks. Tarangire National Park is famous for the thousands of elephants that come down to the park during the dry season in search of water, but there is also plenty of wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, buffalo and hippos.

Lions are often sighted, and you might see leopards and cheetahs patrolling the grasslands, or perched in a tree. Wild dogs have been spotted before, but you have to get lucky to find them. The park is also a great birding destination, with over 500 species living in Tarangire.

Day 4: Tarangire to Ngorongoro

Transfer via road from Tarangire National Park to Manyara Airstrip, where you'll be met by a representative and transferred by road to your lodge in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. A stunningly beautiful place, it's often referred to as the ‘Garden of Eden’. Ngorongoro has been the site of numerous archaeological discoveries over the years, and it's now one of the best places for a safari in East Africa.

You'll arrive just in time for delicious lunch whilst enjoying the magnificent views of &Beyond Crater Lodge, where you'll be spending the next two nights. This lodge comes with a game package that includes shared game drives and shared return airstrip transfers.

Meal plan: Full Board

Area: Ngorongoro

Day 5: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

An exciting day! Today you'll descend into the Ngorongoro Crater with an experienced guide on a shared tour. The landscape here shifts greatly depending on the season, and you're guaranteed to observe scenes found nowhere else in Tanzania.

The park was established as a conservation area for wildlife and the semi-nomadic Maasai population that reside in it. Variations in climate, landforms, and altitude produce a range of habitats that can support a variety of wildlife and has led to a network of overlapping ecosystems.

The rarest animals found here are the black male lion and the black rhino. Interestingly, there are no giraffes in the crater; it is thought that they cannot get up the steep sides.

Day 6: Ngorongoro to Nyaruswiga Lodge

After breakfast, you'll depart to Lake Manyara Airstrip. Here you will board your light air flight to the Seronera Airstrip. From here, you'll travel to Nyaruswiga Lodge where you'll spend the next three nights of your trip.  Each tented suite overlooks and provides unobstructed views of the stunning open savannah, and any wildlife passing within miles can be seen from the comfort of your bedroom or private veranda.

This lodge comes with a game package that includes shared game drives and shared return airstrip transfers.

Meal plan: Full Board

Area: Serengeti

Days 7 & 8: Serengeti National Park

Select from a variety of exciting activities offered on-site to make the most of your day, including morning and afternoon game drives.

The Serengeti is one of the best places for a safari in Africa thanks to the huge numbers of big game that reside here. Tanzania’s oldest park, covering a whopping 1.5 million hectares, it's home to an incredible diversity of animals.  As well as the famous wildebeest migration, the park is home to the Big Five: rhino, lions, leopards buffalo, and elephants. Alongside these, you'll find giraffes, mongooses, baboons, aardvarks, colobus monkeys, monitor lizards, and giant Nile crocodiles.

Day 9: Off towards your next adventure

Drive from the lodge to the Seronera Airstrip. Fly from here to Kilimanjaro airport where you will depart for your international flight.
